Client News: NHRA Weekend Wrap Up

Everyone’s seasons are getting started and the NHRA is no exception.  The ladies of the NHRA headed out to Firebird Raceway, in Phoenix Arizona, last weekend. The second race of the NHRA saw both Alexis DeJoria and Leah Pruett qualifying for the first race at Pomona. While they both qualified neither however made it past round one. Their teams were optimistic going into the Arizona Nationals. Windy conditions plagued qualifying, however after two rounds of qualifying both were locked in to the show.  Leah posting her fastest qualifying pass yet and was sitting as high up as third on the qualifying standings. After two more rounds of qualifying she had slipped down to seventh fastest in the Top Fuel category and Alexis sat in the 11th spot.

Elimination day, the winds had died down and both were ready win it all. Alexis was up against John Force in Round 1 of Funny Car. She cut a clean run of 4.157 seconds at 303.22 mph with a 0.091 reaction time (third fastest of the round). However it was not fast enough to beat out Force’s 4.047 at 316.820 mph.

Next up was Top Fuel. Leah in only her second professional rounds visit took to the track in her Dote Racing Top Fuel. Her first round against Shawn Langston, the winner from Pomona, resulted in a petal fest in which she took the victory. Her first visit to round two in her Top Fuel career. In round two she would go up against defending series Champ Anton Brown. The run resulted in a loss with Leah only going 7.773 seconds at 81.330 mph as she smoked the tires and lost out to Brown.
