Amanda Mobile Broadcasting

Amanda broadcasting while driving home from her parents' house

After a fluke billing fiasco with Verizon, Amanda and I are now able to broadcast/lifecast from anywhere. What does this mean you ask? Before going mobile, Amanda and could/would only broadcast while at home or at a location with an accessible high speed internet connection. Thus, we weren’t able to broadcast while on the road traveling, which we do a lot of, or while Amanda was at her parents’ house in Virginia.

KPC680 ExpressCard

Anyway, we went through our mobile service company, Alltel, and picked up a KPC680 ExpressCard which is shown above. As we were talking to the Alltel salesmen, he told us that the card would give us speed that are comparable to DSL and Cable. HA! Yea right. We did our research long before purchasing the card and knew that we would be lucky to obtain more than 2mg download speed and 1mg upload speed. Sure enough… thats what we got. I ran a couple speedtests with full signal and was able to get 1mg download and 100K (yes K) upload speed. I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed with the results. However, I spoke with some fellow lifecasters on JustinTV and they informed me that my speeds were typical. But even though the salesmen was a total schmuck, the service and speed will suite us for what we need it for.

Enlight of all that, Amanda and I will be testing our mobile lifecasting skills this weekend. Saturday morning we will be leaving for a Bday party and to pick up my daughter. Then we’ll be off to my parents’ lake house for a quiet weekend in the country; hopefully. Feel free to join us. Ive embedded our JTV channels into this post as you see below. Im not sure exactly which of the three channels we’ll be using, but it’ll more than likely be Amanda’s.

[...] our weekend started off like crap. Since Amanda and I picked up an aircard a couple of months ago, we were really hoping to use it to broadcast the event live so that those [...]
