This past weekend Chris and I headed down to Atlanta to help S2 Events with a drift event. Their “Sliding into Home” event is the last event in 2011 and we wanted to hang out with everyone one last time before winter. We woke up bright and early, and by bright and early I mean reluctantly and entirely too early to be up on a Saturday, at 5am to get ready head to Turner Field.
We arrived to find a few snags by no fault of anyone from our crew at least. Someone had left a car parked on the “track”, which in turn meant we had to have it towed (sorry car owner, find somewhere else to park next time).. Problem #2 our Port-a-Potties were not delivered the night before so we had to do some calling around to get some there that day. Early morning means lots of coffee and lots of coffee means.. Well, we needed some Port-a-Potties (we did have at around 10:30!).. After all the messes were cleaned up the event went off without any other issues…
Drivers Meeting, promptly at 9:15am.. Usually almost everyone that is present at the time of the drivers meeting attends. Just to hear the days schedule and go over everything for the event.
The Atlanta drift scene is always supportive of each other. Even though he was not driving in the event our good buddy David Jones stopped by to support his friends that were.
Andy Sapp and “Danger” Dan hanging out..
The game of the day was to see who could drive under the gate.. In total 5 cars fit under, Gregg (above) was the 2nd to attempt.
Early mornings means for afternoon power naps in the car, Marty demonstrates.
Chris was also interviewed by a film crew putting together a video about the “Drifting Lifestyle.”
